"God, where are you? I need you. I want You. How can I find you?" Is this the earnest cry of your heart? Do you long to reach out to God and touch him, but can't seem to find him?

You are not the only one. Everywhere and at all times, men have asked similar questions. Two thousand years ago, a rich young man came running to Jesus and asked him, "Good master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

On the day of Pentecost, Peter was preaching and the people asked him, "What shall we do?" or "How can we find God?" The turbulence of our troubled world today is the unspoken cry for God and his love.

How to find God?

All humans need to find God. Our hearts will be troubled unless we rest in him. The only way to get rest for your soul and peace of mind is to find God and walk with him. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

Knowing that God created us for himself, we realize our need. We are not all the same; however, we are all made in his image and likeness (Gen. 1:26). We are created with a living soul that desires to live in harmony with our Creator.

"As the deer longs for the streams, so my soul longs for you, O God! My soul thirsts for God, for the living God" (Psalm 42:2, 3). Only the living God can satisfy the living soul of man.

"As the deer longs for the streams, so my soul longs for you, O God! My soul thirsts for God, for the living God" (Psalm 42.2,3). Only the living God can satisfy the living soul of man.

David expressed the depths of his soul by saying, "I shall not want" (Ps. 23:1). God supplied his need. He was satisfied, for he knew the peace that the creature experiences when he meets his Creator. "For he has quenched the thirsty soul, he has filled the hungry soul with good things" (Psalm 107:9).

God is real. Even if you don't see God, you don't understand him, and you don't meet him, this doesn't change the irrevocable fact that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God exists! Never doubt it. Firmly believe in his existence and be sure that he loves you.

God is everywhere!

Jesus tells the woman by Jacob's well that God is Spirit and can be found anywhere, anytime. He is not confined to the distant heavens and His presence is not limited to places of worship. You can find Him at sea, in the mountains, in the valley, in the sky, at home, or anywhere. Right now, He surrounds you.

Jacob, a man of God, said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it!" Often we are engrossed in the things of this world, and although he is near us, we do not know him. We expect to meet him dramatically and fail to recognize him in a "soft and light whisper" within (Kings 19.9-13). Stop, look, listen, and with faith we will see, hear, and understand.

You don't have to grope to seek God. He is not hiding, He is waiting for you. Before you start looking for him, he was waiting for your search. He wants to welcome you into his family, where he will love and care for you personally.

Are you worried, lost in sin, confused, guilty or unhappy? Are you afraid of dying? It is God who calls you, because he does not want you to stray. This may be the first call; it may be the last. "Oh! if you could hear his voice today! Do not harden your heart" (Psalm 95:7, 8).

We all sin. "There is none righteous, not one" (Romans 3:10). God is holy and hates sin. As we come into God's presence, we are moved to act against our sins as he teaches us in his Word.

An honest and good life will never atone for our sins and will not be sufficient for our salvation. Nothing but sincere repentance will turn us from our sins.

In his great love, God has prepared a way to meet him. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (Jn. 3.16).

Christ is the way to God! Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me" (John 14:6). When the jailer asked, "What must I do to be saved?" the apostle Paul replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved" (Acts 16:30-31).
